High on Life, 2018

I took my NYE’s promise seriously and began to search. I traveled a lot that year and filled my soul with new experiences. I was high on life.

The certainty that my soul was meant to be somewhere else motivated me to work and save money for whenever I felt I needed to stay, I could stay.

One of my trips of 2018 was to Montreal. I was rejected from a contest exhibition in London, just after I was told I was one of the finalist artists and therefore, have bought my ticket. My heart shattered.

I doubted my art for so many weeks after that, and regardless of the rejection, I had a plane ticket I needed to exchange and the universe - the airline’s agent - sent me and my best friend to Canada.

One of my most vivid memories of that trip is telling my friend: “I don’t know when or how, but I will be living here.” — For some reason, it felt like home.
